Behemoth will play in Warsaw with special guests.
This event will be talked about – Behemoth, thus one of the greatest bands in the history of Polish metal, and thrash titans from Testament on one tour. Supporting the groups will be Portugal's Gaerea – one of the more talented young names in black metal.
From the moment he was a teenager selling cassettes in Gdansk's Oliwa district, Nergal knew that his main path had to be music, so he harried like an ox. It paid off, as Behemoth gradually ticked off more and more milestones, and the Pomeranian beast's status continued to grow. The first European tour, the first US tour, the first landing on the Billboard 200 chart... Iron consistency combined with masterful songwriting gave the desired effect, i.e. a powerful status. The Pomeranian band's black metal has always stood for great songwriting solutions, and paired with image radicalism and a ton of controversy (mainly in the Polish backyard), they have formed a cohesive whole. They bow to no one and nothing. The band's latest album, Opvs Contra Natvram, continues to show Behemoth as an uncompromising line-up that doesn't pander, doesn't play to the audience - it just plays its own thing.
Testament is one of the biggest names in the history of thrash metal, about to celebrate their 40th anniversary, but time doesn't seem to have stopped them. Testament invariably – despite perturbations, line-up changes or other setbacks – chops their thrash clearly tinged with death metal, and there is hardly any indication that they are about to fall out of form. They have a nose for hits, firing off extreme intensity at the most aggressive moments, all carried by Alex Skolnick's outstanding guitar parts and, of course, Chuck Billy's loud roar. Veterans still on top.
Portugal's Gaerea cultivate black metal in an installment that bites and exudes darkness, yet is digestible in its own way. The masked artists from the Iberian Peninsula know the line between melodic and brutal. Sure, they know how to fire off fast riffs or blast beats, but they counter them with big melodies, sweeping transitions and powerfully epic atmospheres.
