Collegium 1704: L’ amante segreto

Information about the concert
One finds love portrayed as fiery, secretive, disappointed, and jealous by composers of the early Italian Baroque in their cantatas, arias, and villanelles. Barbara Strozzi (1619–1677) was one of the most interesting figures among Venetian composers in the mid-17 th century. Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger (1580–1651), known today primarily as a theorbist, is also represented here by a selection of vocal compositions.
Programme: – B. Strozzi: L’ Amante segreto – G. G. Kapsperger: Occhi soli d’Amore, Ite sospiri miei – C. Monteverdi: Signor quel infelice (opera L’Orfeo)
