Information about the concert
François Couperin composed Les concerts royaux (1722) especially for King Louis XIV. Near the end of his life, the king held little chamber music concerts to which Couperin was invited regularly on almost every Sunday of the year. As the composers himself writes in the preface, these compositions were intended not only for harpsichord, but also for violin, flute, oboe, viola, and bassoon.
