Leszek Możdżer + Kapela ze Wsi Warszawa + Carniacy z Czarni

During the second day of the Republic of Poland's National and Ethnic Minorities Music Festival, you will be able to listen to Nils Petter Molvær, the Warsaw Village Band and the Carniacs from Czarnia. This edition is focused on the tradition of Gypsy and Mazovian music.

Leszek Możdżer has made his mark in the history of Polish jazz. He is considered a world-class pianist and an original artist distinguished by his own musical language. In 1992 he received an individual distinction at the Jazz Juniors, and this was the first drop of the abundant rain of awards that was to fall on him in the following years. Since then, he has won all subsequent readers' surveys of the Jazz Forum in the piano category and has also been named Musician of the Year several times. The repertoire of Kapela ze Wsi Warszawa, which has existed since 1997, consists of avant-garde interpretations of traditional music from the wide area of Mazowsze, Chopin's beloved land. Despite their faithfulness to traditional techniques of playing and singing, their inventive performances of old songs sound surprisingly avant-garde and are fully understandable for a contemporary audience. Although traditional instruments can be heard in the instrumentarium of the band - violins, dulcimer, barabans - they sound exceptionally modern and the musicians are not afraid to match them with e.g. DJs. The band's strength is its concerts, of which it has played hundreds, mainly outside Poland. Carniacy, the last group on the evening's programme, is a folk band active in the Kurpie region. It was founded in 1935. Since 1995 it has been working under the auspices of "Strzelec" Kurpiowski Society in Czarnia. The director of the band is Witold Kuczyński, director of the Public Middle School in Czarnia.
