Information about the concert
The concert will feature compositions by Johannes Brahms, Antonín Dvořák, Eugène Ysaÿe, and Matteo Hager.
Matteo Hager (2003) is among the prominent figures of the new generation of violinists. In 2023, he was featured as a “Rising Star” in BBC´s Music Magazine. He is a laureate of several national and international competitions and has collaborated as soloist with numerous Czech and international orchestras under the direction of renowned conductors. After graduating from the Gymnasium and Music School of the City of Prague, he was awarded a merit-based scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he is presently studying under Prof. Rodney Friend. He holds the Comenium Musicum scholarship from the MenART Academy Fund under Professors Božena Viskupová and Alena Viková, the Albert Cooper Music Charitable Trust scholarship, and the Suresh and Richard McMillan Music scholarship. In addition to playing the violin, among his greatest passions is composing.
Pavol Praženica (2001) studied at the Gymnasium and Music School of the City of Prague under the guidance of Libuše Tichá. He is currently studying at HAMU in the class of Ivo Kahánek. He is a laureate of many national and international competitions, with his most recent successes including last year's victory at the International Smetana Piano Competition in Plzeň and three special prizes at the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Competition. He has performed as soloist with leading Czech and Slovak orchestras. Besides solo performances, his great passion is chamber music.
