The KarpatArt crew, the organizing team of the Grajdół Festival, has prepared a Warsaw warm-up for this year's event.
Iva Sativa is a Belarusian singer, rapper and performer who, starting in 2019, enchants audiences with her unique blend of Belarusian folk, hip-hop and drum'n'bass. White tracksuit singing, folk songs to a club beat, a rap manifesto that escapes censorship and travels across borders. Her urban-rural electrofolk seems to be the perfect medium to describe the fractured identity of a country that cannot break out of the strong embrace of history, geopolitics and the imperial dream of its neighbor that is becoming an externalized nightmare.
Morye, originally as a duo, formed in the late summer of 2020 at the Gardzienice Theater Practices Center. They were brought together by a fascination with traditional songs of different cultures, a love of poetry and long August evenings. They try to go deep, to the sources and old melodies; experimenting with what is traditional, they also write their own texts and compositions.
Oskar Cenkier is a Polish composer and pianist. He combines work on his own solo project, for which he has released two studio albums: Bastion (2018) and Mila (2022) and the concert album Concert in Lipnica Murowana (2020) with his activity in the Krakow-based bands Fren and Fraktale. He has been touring nationally and internationally, and has written music for films, theatrical performances, radio plays and choreographic arrangements.
Milosz Skwirut is a double bassist with many years of diverse stage and compositional experience. He permanently collaborates with the Krakow Street Band, Knedlove and Senegalese artist Ablaye Badji, as well as pursuing a solo career: in 2019 he released the album Road Movies, and in 2023 (as Skveee) the album Unspoken. In 2022, he became a Fellow of the City of Krakow. His work is focused on a combination of improvised music, jazz and rock, and film music.
