Conflict: English anarcho-punk band, originally formed in Eltham, South London in 1981. Their first release was the EP The House That Man Built on Crass Records and they released their first album It's Time to See Who's Who on Corpus Christi Records. Conflict later formed their own label Mortarhate Records which released recordings by other artists including Hagar the Womb, Icons of Filth, Lost Cherrees, The Apostles and Stalag 17. In 1983, Steve Ignorant, who was a member of Crass at the time, guested on the animal rights group's single To A Nation of Animal Lovers. After Crass disbanded, Ignorant later became Conflict's second lead singer on a semi-permanent basis. This was followed by a 1986 performance in Brixton, London, when he joined the band on stage for several shows. The band have always been outspoken on issues such as anarchism, animal rights, the anti-war movement and in their support of the Class War organisation, and riots followed a number of their performances during the 1980s.
