Information about the concert

The first day of the 5th edition of the Music Festival of National and Ethnic Minorities of the Republic of Poland consists of concerts by the Barcelona Gipsy BalKan Orchestra and Čači Vorba. This part takes up the threads of the centuries-old tradition of Gypsy and Mazovian music, and examines their influence on contemporary world music and jazz genres.

Barcelona Gipsy Klezmer Orchestra is an ensemble formed in 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. The ensemble draws on a wide range of musical influences, including klezmer music, gypsy jazz and Roma music. they are an international ensemble based in Barcelona and have been wowing audiences across Europe with their authentic reinterpretations of traditional music, mainly Balkan and Central European. Their music goes straight to the heart, without using any tricks or gimmicks. The Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra (BGKO) evolved from the Barcelona Gipsy Klezmer Orchestra and within a few years achieved international acclaim. In September 2016, the band released its third album Del Ebro al Danubio, with new interpretations of sounds from the Mediterranean and the Balkans, reaching number one on the Transglobal World Music Chart, a prestigious list of the best music releases. March 2018 saw the release of BGKO's latest album, entitled Avo kanto, which means "grandfather songs" in Esperanto. Songs from these last two albums will fill the concert, prepared for the audience of the festival Duzięki Słów.

Čači Vorba is a group with over 450 concerts in 21 countries to their credit. They are considered to be one of the leading world music performers of the last few years and at the same time one of the best known Polish bands abroad. The group's music is an original mixture of Gypsy, Balkan and Carpathian traditions treated with passion and expertise, as well as their own compositions and musical remakes. It is a multifaceted combination of ethnic trance, rock dynamics, subtle jazz harmonies and psychedelic space, bound together by the extraordinary voice of the group's soloist, Masha Natanson.

*The concert will be streamed on the website of the "National Cultural Centre":https://www.nck.pl/.
