Jeden svět 2024 Opava

One world again this year at the Art Club in Opava. The festival will take place from April 2 to 12, 2024 for schools and from April 8 to 12, 2024 for the general public. The One World festival annually draws attention to important topics that move society. Whether the films shown are about freedom of speech, the independence of the courts, identity or relationships, or take us to inconspicuous alleys or war zones, their ideas always go beyond the boundaries of cinema halls. In order to further underline the importance of the themes that the films open up, the festival will enrich the program with human rights-themed fiction. The program of the festival will include post-film discussions, which will be attended by guests – for example, the recent winner of the Ferdinand Peroutka Journalist Award, Saša Uhlová, and Marta Kovářová, the director and frontwoman of the band Budoár Staré Dámy. This alternative rock band, which is the author of the soundtrack to one of the festival's films Jiříkov's Vision, will perform at Klub Art on Friday, April 12 from 20:00, and visitors with an all-festival or Friday all-day ticket will have free entry to this concert. The exhibition Destroyed Granary of the World by photographer Vladimír Hostinský will take place in the foyer of the Municipal House. The Human Rights Documentary Festival One World is organized by People in Need. It was held for the first time in 1999. According to the organizer it is the most important event of its kind in the world, and in 2007 it received an honorable mention from UNESCO for human rights education.
