They're fucked up. All three of them. Agatha, Martha, and Daniel are not dying of cancer, or sick at all, really. They have something to eat, something to drink; have someone to drink with and sleep with, but the feeling of emptiness and shit is sometimes so intense that they aren't sure they can even get out of bed.

But they are still trying to find some nice and promising reasons to keep their miserable lives.
