Information about the concert
On June 5 2022, a concert under the name „In Colours of France“ will take place in the House for Professed during the „Lieder Company Concert Season 2022“.
This evening serves as a commemoration of several anniversaries of French composers – including 200 years since the birth of César Franck, 160 years since the birth of Claude Debussy and 60 years since the death of Jacques Ibert. A compilation of their songs will be performed by Czech interpreters: soprano Jana Sibera and baritone Roman Janál will perform together with pianist Karel Košárek. César Franck’s song output does not represent any complete cycles, only individual songs. They are rarely performed on concert stages (not only) in the Czech Republic, therefore we present a selection of the most impressive ones. We also rarely think of Claude Debussy as a song composer, even though his legacy in this field is extremely rich. This concert will feature his culminating two-part song cycle set to Paul Verlaine’s poems, Fêtes Galantes. The lesser performed but very interesting French composer Jacques Ibert will be represented by two of his quite contrasting song cycles.
The works will be performed in French and accompanied by Czech subtitles.
