Lakeside X + Munroe + host: Petr Kučera

The bands Lakeside X and Munroe will perform with guest Petr Kučera at Klub Art in Opava on 16 February at 8pm.

Lakeside X is a synthpop band from Prague, Czech Republic. Their sound is often compared to bands like Mesh, De/Vision or even Depeche Mode. During its history, the band released four albums and established itself on the electronic scene. The band’s fans can be found all over the world, from their native Czech Republic, through Poland, Germany, England, Russia, the USA, to countries such as Argentina. The songs combine melancholy with energy, synthesizer sounds with guitars. Together with the fragile voice of frontman Janne Marvannen, they create a unique and original character of their music.

Munroe is a two-member idiosyncratic rock band consisting of Jan Kunze and Vladimír Jaške. It was formed in 2014 due to the overpressure of musical ideas and the ambition to try something new and different from others. In the same year, their debut album Z čistého nebe was released, which was helped by Kay Buriánek (Sunshine, Fvtvre) and producer Bernd Burgdorf from Los Angeles. Instrumental minimalism, black and white aesthetics, rawness referring to Jarmusch’s film Dead Man and a bit of Jesenice voodoo, all this describes the eccentricity of this two-member formation. Munroe is tribal rock and roll, built on a distinctive riff, a shamanic groove, simplicity interspersed with mysterious sophistication. In 2021, the pair released a new album Divoké kvítí, from which the single Vlčí menuet was the most prominent.

Petr Kučera, together with Petr Muka and brothers Jan and Dušan Vozáry, was the founder of the musical group Oceán, which at the time partially substituted for the then coming wave of pure synthesizer music for the Czechoslovak audience. Currently he plays and composes with Oceán (Ve smíru, Femme Fatale).
